EY executive director Jeremy Robinson addresses the dozens of Marshall Islands government accountants who attended a one-day training session at the Marshall Islands Resort.
A team from the Ernst & Young audit company hit town last week to run a one-day accountability workshop with Marshall Islands government finance-related staff from multiple ministries and agencies.
The program, held at the Marshall Islands Resort’s Melele Room, was packed with participants who heard from top EY audit executives with updates on government accounting requirements and rules.
EY is the auditor for the RMI government, working on contract with the RMI Auditor General’s Office. It annually performs the RMI government’s “Single Audit” and many individual ministry and agency audits.
The program last Thursday included a session on government accounting in the morning and federal grant compliance in the afternoon.
Senior Manager from EY’s Charlotte office in North Carolina Melissa Burke led the morning session, while Jeremy Robinson, an executive director for the entire US EY firm based in Sacramento, California, led the afternoon session on federal grant compliance matters.
This was the third stop on a workshop tour in the islands for the EY team. They conducted similar workshops on Guam and Pohnpei before coming to Majuro for last Thursday’s session.
