Voting Turn-Out Hits 43.59% By 2PM, Marking Increase From 2022 And Breaking Decreasing Streak

Approximately 43.59% of Malta’s registered votes were cast by 2pm, the Electoral Commission has now confirmed.

This figure is noteworthy since it marks a rather significant increase of 3.14% from the last general election in 2022, which went on to go down as the one with the lowest voter turn-out since Independence, with 85.5% by the end of the day.

The voting turn-out percentage by 2pm reflects the number of votes cast at the seven-hour mark out of a total of 356,663 eligible votes (95.7% of which were actually collected) have been cast in Malta’s General election thus far. There’s still a long way to go, with the voting window closing at 10pm.

District 1 registered the highest voting turn-out so far with 47.3%, while District 12 registered the lowest at 39.76%.
