PL Pledges Online Patrols, Deepfake Laws And Revenge Porn Helpline

Prime Minister Robert Abela attended a discussion in Floriana organised by Labour Women, which centred on proposals concerning the digital world.

The Labour Party proposed for the police to take a proactive role by increasing so-called online patrols and taking action where risks are identified. This concept aims to protect children and vulnerable people from different forms of online abuse.

The party also pledged that victims of domestic violence will be able to testify via video conferencing, and related proceedings will be concluded as quickly as possible.

It went on to say that a new Labour Government will introduce laws against image-based abuse and the abusive use of deepfakes. A revenge porn helpline will be set up to provide immediate support to victims of this crime.
