A 50-year-old man suffered burns in an incident that took place yesterday evening at his residence in Triq il-Ħtajriet, Mosta.

The police were informed of the incident at around 7.30pm, after the man sustained injuries while on the roof of his home.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the man suffered burns when, for reasons yet to be established, fuel he was using to light a barbecue ignited and caught onto him.

A medical team and members of the Civil Protection Department immediately responded to the scene and provided assistance.

The man was taken by ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was later certified as suffering from serious injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing.
