Suspended Fahmi Zainol says he will continue working hard for his constituents | Malaysia

PANTAI Jerejak assemblyman Fahmi Zainol said he plans to appeal his suspension with the PKR disciplinary board and will now work even harder as one of the five elected PKR assemblymen in Penang.

The 35-year-old, who was the youngest state exco member ever in Penang, was upbeat despite his recent fate.

Party colleague and state vice-chairman Goh Choon Aik, the Bukit Tambun assemblyman, was sworn in to succeed Fahmi, a former state PKR Youth head.

Fahmi, who was a student leader at Universiti Malaya, was handpicked by the PKR leadership as a future leader of the reformist party.

In the spirit of compassion and togetherness during Ramadan, he recently helped distributed a total of 800 packets of “bubur lambuk” to the public yesterday.

The distribution took place at the Kompleks Bukit Jambul (KBJ) compound, near the clock tower area, attracting shoppers and visitors who gathered to receive the traditional porridge, a delicacy often associated with breaking of fast.

The programme is an annual initiative organised by the KBJ Joint Management Body (JMB), aimed at sharing blessings and fostering community spirit among those visiting the complex.

Among those present were Fahmi, KBJ JMB chairman Datuk K.H. Chan, Mydin northern executive director Azmin Datuk Dr Saduruddin and Adabi general manager Datuk Jaafar Abdul Ghani.

Fahmi expressed his delight at seeing the bubur lambuk distribution programme carried out in a lively and festive atmosphere.

“This programme serves as a platform for the community to come together, share their blessings and further enliven the spirit of Ramadan among the extended Pantai Jerejak family. I would like to thank everyone who attended and helped make this programme a success this afternoon,” he said. – March 8, 2026.
