THE Johor Police Contingent (IPK Johor) has deployed 318 officers and personnel to Negeri Sembilan to support security operations ahead of the state election on Saturday.
Johor Police Chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said the deployment involved 290 general duty personnel and 28 traffic officers, who began their assignment in Negeri Sembilan today.
He said the move reflected the Royal Malaysia Police’s (PDRM) commitment to ensuring the democratic process was conducted in a peaceful, secure and orderly environment.
“The Johor Police Contingent will assist from today and is expected to conclude its deployment two days after the completion of the polling process,” he said during a send-off ceremony at the Johor Police Contingent Headquarters today.
Ab Rahaman said the deployment was part of broader preparations involving multiple police formations, with the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel under Op Cantas remaining on standby in Johor for possible mobilisation if required.
“Throughout the deployment, I remind all personnel to comply with the instructions of their commanding officers, maintain neutrality and always prioritise safety.
“Although we come from different contingents and formations, we remain one team with one objective — ensuring the election process runs smoothly and remains under control,” he said.
He also commended police personnel from Johor and other contingents for successfully managing the 16th Johor state election, which concluded with the formation of the new state government on July 12.
Ab Rahaman said police recorded 130 reports and opened 27 investigation papers throughout the Johor election period.
The investigations involved 20 cases related to damage to campaign materials under Sections 426, 427 and 435 of the Penal Code, four cases under the Election Offences Act 1954, and one case each involving defamation under Section 500 of the Penal Code, publication of false news under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, and the Sedition Act 1948.
He added that police monitored 4,481 political campaign ceramah sessions during the Johor election period, with all events conducted without major incidents. – July 30, 2026
