Police dismantle online scam syndicate offering fake sex services in Melaka raid | Malaysia

POLICE have uncovered an online scam syndicate offering fraudulent sex service packages for as little as RM150, following a raid on a premises in Tengkera on Thursday.

Melaka Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit said the operation, carried out at about 6pm by the Commercial Crime Investigation Division and the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division of the district police headquarters, led to the arrest of two local men and 13 Chinese nationals, including one woman, aged between 26 and 49.

He said initial investigations revealed the group had been operating out of a two-storey terraced house in Kampung Lapan since early March, using it as a call centre to run the scam targeting victims in Taiwan.

“Initial investigations found that the Chinese nationals had entered the country using tourist passes.

“All of them have been remanded for four days starting yesterday, on suspicion of involvement in the non-existent online sex service scam,” he said at a press conference at the Melaka Tengah district police headquarters in Batu Berendam today.

Christopher said the syndicate used multiple mobile phones and Telegram accounts to avoid detection, while victims were instructed to make upfront payments for services that were never delivered.

Police also seized various items believed to have been used in the operation, including 13 computers, 40 mobile phones and other supporting equipment.

“Two travel documents were also seized, with the total value of the confiscated items estimated at RM85,000,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating, as well as Section 15(1)(c) and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. – March 21, 2026
