KPDN launches PATUH programme to strengthen business compliance culture | Business

THE Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) today launched the PATUH Programme at the PLUS Seremban Southbound Rest and Service Area, marking a strategic step to reinforce a culture of compliance among businesses across Malaysia.

Speaking at the launch, Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said the programme aims to ensure all industry players operate in accordance with established laws, standards, and guidelines.

“Through PATUH, KPDN seeks to create a structured, ethical business environment that provides optimum protection for consumers,” she said.

“This approach not only boosts public confidence in the domestic trade system but also promotes self-regulation among traders on compliance with trade laws in a sustained and comprehensive manner.”

In its first year, two pilot initiatives have been introduced under the programme: the PATUH Rest Stop Zone (ZPP) and PATUH Market.

The ZPP covers 20 PLUS rest and service areas in Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, and Perak, providing a platform to educate highway users and model business practices of integrity and legal compliance.

Meanwhile, the PATUH Market pilot focuses on public markets, emphasising clear pricing, accurate weighing tools, and clean, orderly trading environments, starting with one market in each state before gradual nationwide expansion.

The PATUH Programme reflects inter-agency collaboration between government, industry, and consumers to implement high-impact initiatives.

Key strategic partners include PLUS Malaysia Berhad, the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), the Ministry of Health, JAKIM, FAMA, the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), and local authorities.

“The phased implementation and strong support from all parties are expected to make PATUH a catalyst for transforming Malaysia’s trade landscape into one that is more transparent, integrity-driven, and consumer-friendly,” Dr Fuziah added.

“It will also raise awareness among traders on the importance of compliance, encourage healthy competition, and safeguard consumer rights.” – October 29, 2025
