Izzah takes break from her role as PKR deputy president | Malaysia

NURUL Izzah Anwar will be taking a temporary leave of absence from her duties as PKR deputy president after the party’s congress next week.

PKR information chief Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said Izzah had requested to step down from the post altogether, but the party’s central leadership decided to grant her a leave of absence from the role instead.

“The central leadership also decided that party vice-president, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, would carry out the duties of deputy president on an interim basis.

“It was also agreed that the position of KEADILAN Election Director would be fully assumed by Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, who is also a party vice-president,” he said.

As for the 2026 National Congress, Fahmi said Izzah will officiate the KEADILAN Women’s and Youth Congress on 14 August 2026.

The central leadership also approved 3,533 new members for the period from 12 July to August 2026, who had registered online,” he added. – August 6, 2026
