Anwar calls for holistic approach to combat corruption beyond law enforcement | Malaysia

THE nation’s fight against corruption requires more than legal enforcement alone, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said, urging a comprehensive strategy rooted in integrity and good governance across all sectors.

In a Facebook post, Anwar emphasised that an integrated approach involving the public sector, private organisations, and civil society is essential to ensure that anti-corruption measures are effective and sustained.

He highlighted the issue while chairing the Special Cabinet Committee on National Governance, which also agreed to implement the Certified Integrity Officer Programme as part of efforts to strengthen national governance.

“Misuse of public funds and abuse of power not only undermine the country’s governance but also affect the welfare of citizens, including public health, the environment, and national integrity,” Anwar said.

He added that the government remains committed to empowering good governance, ensuring integrity and transparency remain central to public service, upholding the trust of the people, and reinforcing confidence in national institutions. – March 12, 2026
