A fire broke out at a terminal in Russia’s Black Sea port of Tuapse after an attack by Ukrainian drones, local authorities said on Friday, in the fourth such strike in just over two weeks.
A total of 128 personnel and 41 pieces of equipment were deployed to contain the blaze, including units from Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry, the authorities said. No casualties were reported.
Russia declared a regional emergency earlier this week in the city of more than 60,000 people, home to one of the country’s largest Black Sea ports and a key oil refinery owned by energy giant Rosneft PJSC. This followed repeated drone attacks that began on April 16.
The attacks resulted in a halt to operations at the port and the refinery, with each separate fire taking several days to extinguish. They also caused an oil-product spill in the Tuapse River and coastal area. A fire from a previous strike on the refinery that began on April 28 was extinguished on Thursday.
