A scientific symposium entitled “Transition to Clean Energy in Fezzan,” organized and supervised by the University of Fezzan and supported by the National Oil Corporation (NOC), commenced last Thursday, (12 February) at Ubari municipality.
The symposium witnessed a high-level attendance, including the Director General of the NOC’s Southern Region branch, Abdul Salam Zeidan, and the participation of the President of the University of Fezzan, the President of Wadi Al-Shati University, the Director of the Social Security Fund’s Southwest branch, deans of faculties, members of the IEEE, and a select group of academics, researchers, and energy specialists from within and outside Libya.
The NOC said the symposium comes within the framework of supporting the national trend towards clean energy and promoting scientific research in the field of renewable energy. The NOC reported that it actively participated in the symposium with a remote presentation by Akram Al-Muqri, Head of the Renewable Energy Department at the NOC, entitled “Integrating and Implementing Renewable Energy Systems and the Energy Transition.” His presentation enriched the scientific discussion and opened new avenues for collaboration between the NOC and Libyan universities.
The symposium concluded with participants emphasizing the importance of investing in the natural resources of the southern region to achieve sustainable development and strengthening partnerships between the oil sector and Libyan academic institutions to develop innovative solutions in the field of clean energy.
