Member of Parliament Issam Al-Jahani said Monday that a long time has passed since the political agreement between the House of Representatives and the High Council of State, yet blockages persist.

Al-Jahani told Sputnik that forming the “4+4 Committee” was a new step supported by the House of Representatives. He described the committee as a pathway designed to end division and unify state institutions. However, he noted that obstacles remain, and both council leaders continue in their roles.

He stated that the High Council of State faces problems holding sessions due to a lack of quorum. Al-Jahani pointed out that these challenges linger, whether openly or behind the scenes.

He added that the international community supports the process led by the “4+4 Committee,” calling it the correct path to end division and unify Libya’s institutions.

Al-Jahani emphasized the need to move from meetings and statements to practical measures that would end the political split. He stressed that international support for the “4+4 Committee” is the direction that should continue in the next phase.
