NOC Completes Technical Works at Zuwara Desalination Plant

The National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced today that it has completed technical and mechanical works, as well as full cleaning and disinfection operations, for the gas pressure reduction and metering system at the Zuwara Water Desalination Plant. The plant had been out of service for more than seven years.

Gas pumping through the system from the Mellitah Industrial Complex has commenced in preparation for the plant’s operation.

This step is part of the preparatory and testing activities designed to verify the readiness of the gas reduction system, monitor component performance, and ensure stable pressure and operating conditions, paving the way for subsequent operational phases and achieving system stability.

Substituting the more costly liquid fuels for gas
The NOC highlighted the fact that it is making continuous efforts, in implementation of its strategy towards supporting state service institutions, by finding alternatives to the use of liquid fuels, especially power plants and desalination plants in Libya, by providing the necessary gas supplies and supporting the continuity of basic services‎.
