Sebha -Today, Tuesday, the electoral procedures for electing the mayor of Sebha Municipality were completed. This took place at the Sebha Electoral Management Office. The voting process resulted in the election of Haffaf Omar Ali Al-Aswad as mayor. He was elected by the unanimous vote of the elected municipal council members.
The election was conducted in the presence of the committee formed by Resolution No. (6) of 2026. All members of the Municipal Council were present. Representatives from civil society organizations and media outlets also attended. The process upheld transparency and adhered to approved legal procedures.
The Sebha Electoral Management Office clarified this on its official Facebook page. It stated that the voting took place inside the office headquarters. The process followed legal regulations governing elections. Civil society organizations and media directly monitored it.
The election of the Sebha mayor follows the announcement of final results by the High National Elections Commission. This announcement was made last Thursday. The results were for municipal council elections in eight municipalities. These were part of Group Three for 2025. The municipalities included Benghazi, Qaminis, Al-Abyar, Tokra, Suluq, Qasr Al-Jidi, Sirte, and Sebha. All legal and technical stages of the electoral process were completed.
