Libya – The Public Prosecution has ordered the detention of two employees at the Mizran and Mellitah branches of Jumhouria Bank on charges of embezzling approximately 9.9 million dinars from the bank’s funds.
According to a statement from the Public Prosecution’s media office, investigators examined the legitimacy of transactions carried out at both branches between 2013 and 2021.
The investigation found that the employees took 9,916,851 dinars from the bank’s accounts. The funds were transferred to the bank accounts of their relatives, with the intention of concealing their origin and making it harder to trace the money and any related rights.
