Civil Registry Employee in Al Maamoura Imprisoned 10 Years for Forging National IDs

Tripoli – A South Tripoli Court of Appeals sentenced an employee to prison. The employee worked at the Civil Registry Office in Al-Maamoura. He was convicted of forging family data. This enabled foreigners to obtain national identification numbers.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office issued a statement. It confirmed the Public Prosecution filed two public lawsuits. These were against the employee. He had misused family registration data. He worked at the Civil Registry Office in Al-Maamoura. He deliberately forged family data for sixteen foreigners. This allowed them to obtain national numbers. They then gained rights arising from citizenship.

The South Tripoli Court of Appeals convicted the defendant. It sentenced him to five years in prison for the first case. He received another five years for the second case.

The court also deprived the accused of civil rights. This deprivation will last for the ten-year prison sentence. It will continue for an additional four years after his release. All national identification numbers obtained through the forgery were revoked.
