-Submits Impeachment Bill Against Him

Montserrado County District #10 Representative, Yekeh Y. Kolubah, has officially submitted an Impeachment Bill before the House of Representatives calling for the removal of Chief Justice Yamie Gbeisay.

The lawmaker’s action made public on Tuesday at the Capitol Building in Monrovia, accuses the Chief Justice of engaging in nepotism, corruption, and actions deemed detrimental to the rule of law and Liberia’s democracy.

According to Representative Kolubah, the bill outlines multiple instances of alleged judicial misconduct, including the appointment of unqualified relatives to key judicial positions and interference in ongoing court matters.

He further claimed that Chief Justice Gbeisay has issued direct threats against trial judges who refuse to comply with his personal directives conduct Kolubah described as a “serious breach of judicial ethics and a betrayal of public trust.”

“The judiciary must remain the last hope of the ordinary Liberian, not a family business or a political weapon,” Kolubah stated in his presentation.

The impeachment move has sparked intense debate within political and legal circles, with some lawmakers calling for an impartial investigation into the allegations, while others view the bill as a politically motivated attack on the judiciary.

Chief Justice Gbeisay is yet to officially respond to the allegations. Meanwhile, the House of Representatives is expected to deliberate on the bill in the coming days as public attention mounts on the unfolding political and judicial storm.
