TWO SERIOUSLY INJURED IN TRAIN AND VEHICLE COLLISION AT WHITE PLAINS, LNP LAUNCHES INVESTIGATION

MONROVIA – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has begun an investigation into a railway accident in the White Plains community that left two people with serious injuries.

According to a press release issued by the LNP, the accident occurred late Tuesday evening when a train traveling from Monrovia collided with a vehicle attempting to cross the railway track in the area.

The police said preliminary reports suggest that the vehicle was trying to pass over the railway line when it was struck by the oncoming train.

“The Liberia National Police is investigating a railway accident in White Plains that resulted in two persons sustaining serious bodily injuries,” the police statement said. “Preliminary reports indicate that the collision occurred late yesterday evening when a train heading from Monrovia collided with a vehicle that was attempting to cross the railway track.”

Authorities confirmed that both victims suffered serious injuries and were quickly taken to the John F. Kennedy Medical Center for urgent medical attention.

Police officers deployed in the White Plains area have since launched a full investigation aimed at determining the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

Meanwhile, the LNP is calling on drivers across the country to exercise extreme caution when approaching railway crossings to prevent similar accidents.

“The LNP urges motorists to exercise caution and adhere to safety regulations when approaching railway crossings,” the statement added.

The release was signed by Sam K. Collins, Chief of Press and Public Affairs of the Liberia National Police.
