PRESIDENT BOAKAI ACCEPTS RESIGNATIONS OF NAFAA AND LIPA SENIOR OFFICIALS

EXECUTIVE MANSION, MONROVIA – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has officially accepted the resignations of two high-ranking government officials, signaling notable changes within Liberia’s public sector leadership. An Executive Mansion press release on Thursday, November 27, 2025, confirmed that the officials stepping down are Madam Emma Catherine Metieh Glassco, suspended Director General of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Agency (NaFAA), and Madam Mariama Kamara Macauley, Deputy Director-General for Training and Development at the Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA).

According to the release, Madam Glassco submitted her resignation on November 11, 2025, citing “domestic reasons” and requesting immediate effect. She expressed sincere gratitude to President Boakai and the Government of Liberia for the chance to serve, describing her tenure at NaFAA as “a distinct honor” and emphasizing her pride in contributing to the development of Liberia’s fisheries and aquaculture sector.

Madam Mariama Kamara Macauley followed with her resignation on November 24, 2025, which is set to take effect on November 30. In her statement, she indicated that her decision was the result of “careful reflection” and personal matters requiring her full attention. She thanked President Boakai for the opportunity to serve under his leadership and reaffirmed her commitment to continue supporting public sector reform efforts, noting her willingness to serve in any future capacity where her expertise could benefit the nation.

The Executive Mansion release highlighted President Boakai’s appreciation for the contributions of both officials, recognizing their dedication to national development. He also extended his best wishes for their future endeavors.

The departure of Madam Glassco and Madam Macauley leaves key positions vacant at NaFAA and LIPA, institutions central to Liberia’s fisheries management and public sector capacity building. Observers say their resignations, particularly that of Madam Glassco following her suspension, may prompt renewed attention on governance and leadership within these agencies.

The President’s acknowledgment of their service underscores the administration’s recognition of their efforts, even as transitions in leadership create opportunities for fresh appointments to strengthen institutional performance and oversight.

While Madam Glassco emphasized her pride in her sectoral contributions, Madam Macauley’s resignation reflects a personal decision to focus on matters outside public office, though both signal a readiness to remain supportive of Liberia’s development agenda.

The Executive Mansion noted that their resignations would not affect ongoing reforms and programs within NaFAA and LIPA, reiterating the government’s commitment to continuity in public service delivery.
