Maseru, Sept. 21 — Proceedings between the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and Queen ‘Mamohato Memorial Hospital (QMMH) management were halted on Monday morning as Lesotho Medical Council (LMC) and Nursing Council failed to present reports regarding employees practising without the required qualifications.
PAC Chairperson Mrs. Machabana Lemphane Letsie expressed disappointment over the failure to submit the reports, despite the period given to the concerned parties to prepare and present them before the committee on Monday.
She said the committee required a report on the qualifications of one QMMH Medical Doctor who heads one of the hospital’s departments, as well as 36 other Doctors who were allegedly reported not to have submitted their retention certificates.
Mrs. Letsie subsequently suspended the proceedings to allow the relevant bodies to prepare and submit the reports.
Meanwhile, the committee proceeded to QMMH to follow up on the M4 million that the hospital’s Financial Manager was expected to deposit into the hospital’s Nedbank account.
The reports are expected to be presented before the committee later on Monday.
