Ministry of Tourism Partners with Industry Leaders to Drive Lesotho’s Creative Economy

The Ministry of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture has announced a groundbreaking partnership with leading creative industry players aimed at transforming Lesotho’s creative landscape. The collaboration brings together the GEM Institute, Khaya Holdings and Khaya TV, Mohale Media and Toppers Modeling Agency Lesotho, Bonngoe Media Group, and YME.

The joint initiative seeks to promote and advance the creative industry by fostering innovation, growth, and opportunities for local talent. It aligns with the Ministry’s mission to strengthen Lesotho’s cultural economy and empower creative professionals to compete at both regional and international levels.

Through this partnership, stakeholders will develop and implement targeted programs designed to support creatives across multiple disciplines, including film, music, fashion, media, and the performing arts. The programs will focus on capacity building, mentorship, and access to industry networks.

Training and mentorship opportunities will play a central role in equipping young artists and entrepreneurs with the skills they need to succeed in a rapidly evolving creative economy. The initiative will also promote entrepreneurship within the sector by supporting local startups and encouraging business innovation.

Another key objective of the partnership is to showcase Lesotho’s cultural heritage and artistic excellence on a broader stage. Through media collaborations, cultural events, and international showcases, the partnership will highlight the unique creativity and talent found in Lesotho.

Speaking at the announcement, Ministry representatives emphasized that the creative industry is a critical driver of job creation and economic diversification. By building a solid ecosystem that supports artists, media practitioners, and cultural entrepreneurs, Lesotho can unlock new opportunities for sustainable development.

The Ministry and its partners are committed to creating a strong, inclusive platform where talent thrives. Their shared goal is to build a creative industry that not only reflects Lesotho’s identity but also contributes meaningfully to its economy.

This collaboration marks a new chapter for the Basotho creative sector. With collective effort, strategic planning, and sustained investment, Lesotho’s creative industries are poised for growth, innovation, and international recognition.
