Minister of Natural Resources, Mohlomi Moleko, and South African Minister of Water and Sanitation, Pamela Majodina, are visiting Phase II of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP) to assess progress at the site.
The visited, organised by the Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA), underscores the continued commitment and cooperation between the two countries in advancing regional water security and infrastructure development.
In her remarks, Majodina said they were happy with the progress achieved so far and pushing hard to ensure the project is not delayed further.
“Compensation of people who were relocated has been done but we still have M180 million that is outstanding.
“Feeder roads and accommodation facilities were built on Phase I and we’re now here at Phase II to check the dam wall and the Senqu bridge. I’ve given contractors a deadline for December,” she added.
