Prime Minister Sam Matekane is in Abuja, Nigeria for the “Breaking Barriers to Trade and Leadership Summit.”

The conference, which starts today and ends tomorrow, is jointly organised by the African Leadership Organisation (ALO) and the Global Influence Club (United Kingdom). 

It brings together government leaders, senior policymakers, development finance executives, business leaders, and influential voices from across Africa and beyond to deliberate on advancing the continent’s trade, governance, leadership, and institutional transformation.

According to a press release, Matekane will deliver a keynote address tomorrow at the African Leadership Colloquium under the theme: “Re-Imagining Governance: What Africa’s Institutions Must Become.” The session is an invitation-only gathering of approximately 400 distinguished leaders, including serving and former Heads of State and Government, cabinet ministers, central bank governors, and captains of industry from across the continent.

Matekane’s participation follows a special invitation from Dr. Ken Giam, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of ALO, in recognition of Lesotho’s democratic governance, institutional resilience, and the Prime Minister’s leadership in advancing national reforms, economic transformation, and regional cooperation.

In addition to the keynote, he will participate in the Leadership Covenant Signing Ceremony, a collective commitment by African leaders to promote accountable, ethical, and sustainable leadership across the continent.

As part of his official programme in Abuja, Matekane will also engage with prominent Nigerian and pan-African business leaders during the Lesotho Business and Investment Roundtable. The engagement is aimed at showcasing Lesotho’s investment potential, promoting bilateral trade, and strengthening economic partnerships by highlighting opportunities in key sectors of the Kingdom’s economy.
