Lesotho Launches Quality Physical Education Forum with Cultural Celebrations

The Quality Physical Education Forum opened with a vibrant ceremony that showcased Lesotho’s rich cultural heritage. The Moritṣ̌oana and Thaba-Bosiu Cultural groups captivated delegates with traditional Basotho dances, music, and elaborate attire, setting an energetic tone for the event.

The opening highlighted the importance of cultural exchange and integrating local traditions into modern educational practices. The performances and intricate costumes emphasized the value of blending heritage with contemporary learning to create engaging educational experiences.

Organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training and the UNESCO Commission, and hosted by AUSC Region 5, the forum focuses on promoting quality physical education in the region.

The event gathered policymakers, educators, and stakeholders to share best practices, identify challenges, and explore collaborative solutions for advancing physical education. Discussions aim to improve access, strengthen curricula, and enhance teacher development systems.

The forum reinforces Lesotho’s commitment to combining cultural identity with educational innovation while promoting physical education as a tool for youth development, social inclusion, and community resilience.
