LESOTHO, BOTSWANA STRENGTHEN RESILIENCE – Lesotho News Agency

MASERU – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Mr. Limpho Tau says both Basotho and Batswana should work towards building and strengthening resilience between the two nations.

The Minister and Co-Chair of the Council of Ministers of the Botswana-Lesotho Bi-National Commission (BNC), Senior Government Officials and Security Chiefs said this during closing on Thursday.

As the inaugural session came to an end, he expressed appreciation to the Botswana counterparts for the spirit of camaraderie, unity, and shared vision that has guided deliberations and promoted resilience between the two member states.

He said both have reaffirmed the enduring bonds between two nations and charted a path forward that is both ambitious and pragmatic, with decisions having been taken in areas of trade and investment, infrastructure, governance, energy, and people-to-people exchanges.

“These are not just solutions on paper but they are our real commitments to action, that are, in earnest, designed to uplift standards of living of both Basotho and Batswana for the resilience of two states,” he said.

Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of the two countries to continue exploring and unleashing their potential, demonstrating that the Bi-National Commission is not only a mechanism of dialogue, but a true engine of transformation and renewed partnership between two sisterly countries.

He encouraged both countries that have agreed on strategic priority projects and programmes which include not limited to the following: acceleration of the Lesotho-Botswana Water Transfer Project, promotion of Trade and Investment, promotion of Tourism Development, Youth Empowerment, agriculture and Livestock Development and Cooperation in Mining and Energy.
