Justice Served at last – Lesotho Tribune

The High Court today, 24 August 2026, delivered judgment in the long-running case concerning the death of Police Constable Mokalekale Khetheng. The judgment was delivered by Justice Charles Hungwe.

The Court found as follows:

Thabo Tsukulu (Accused 1) was found not guilty of murder, but guilty of being an accessory after the fact. He was also convicted of obstructing the course of justice, perjury, attempted inducement of perjury and inducing perjury.

Mothibeli Mofolo (Accused 2) was found guilty of murder, as well as obstructing the course of justice, perjury, attempted inducement of perjury and inducing perjury.

Mabitle Matona (Accused 3) was found not guilty and discharged.

Haleokoe Taasoane (Accused 4) was also found not guilty and discharged.

The matter will proceed to sentencing for Thabo Tsukulu and Mothibeli Mofolo after the Court receives the necessary pre-sentence and mitigation material.
The Court also raised concerns regarding aspects of the police investigation and directed that a copy of the judgment be referred to the Commissioner of Police for consideration of any further steps that may be warranted.
