IEC seek police help over security gaps – The Reporter Lesotho

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has engaged police to investigate reported security related issues within the Commission, following a comprehensive assessment of its facilities.

The IEC said the assessment identified security-related concerns it could not state due to security purposes.

Speaking at a press conference, IEC Chairperson Dr. John Maphephe said formal criminal cases have since been opened to ensure unlawful conduct is addressed in accordance with the law.

He noted that the Commission remains committed to safeguarding its personnel, assets, information and electoral infrastructure while strengthening security systems to protect the integrity of its operations.
