The government has rescheduled a consultative meeting of parliamentary party leaders on the structure for implementing the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution, 2025, after the opposition leader requested a postponement.

Acting Prime Minister Justice Nthomeng Majara has invited all parliamentary party leaders to a rescheduled consultative meeting on Monday, 27 July 2026, at Avani Lesotho Hotel at 11:00 a.m.
The meeting was originally set for 22 July but was postponed after Democratic Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition Mathibeli Mokhothu wrote to request a delay. A letter signed by the acting prime minister and addressed to Mokhothu confirmed the government had acceded to the request “in the interest of promoting consensus and ensuring the full participation of all Leaders of Political Parties in Parliament.”
The broader process
The meeting forms part of consultations on the proposed national reforms implementation structure for operationalising the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution, 2025.
Following that session, the government plans to convene a Multi-Stakeholder Consultative Meeting on Wednesday, 29 July 2026. That gathering will bring together representatives of non-governmental organisations and other stakeholders to consult on the same implementation structure.
The acting prime minister described both meetings as part of “Government’s commitment to an inclusive and nationally owned implementation process.”

By copy of the letter, the invitation was extended to 11 other party leaders: Adv. Lekhetho Rakuoane of the Popular Front for Democracy; Dr Mahali Phamotse of United Africans Transformation; Nkaku Kabi of the All Basotho Convention; Tšepo Lipholo of the Basotho Covenant Movement; Remaketse Sehlabaka of Mpulule Political Summit; Mohlominyane Tota of United for Change; Tefo Mapesela of the Basotho Patriotic Party; Machesetsa Mofomobe of the Basotho National Party; Professor Nqosa Mahao of the Basotho Action Party; Adv. Teboho Mojapela of the Socialist Revolutionaries; and ‘Machabana Lemphane-Letsie of HOPE.
The letter was signed by Justice Nthomeng Majara in her capacity as Acting Prime Minister.
