Qacha’sNek, Oct. 10 — The tranquil hills of Waterfall, Freestate echoed with messages of hope and healing as members of the District Child Protection Team (DCPT) joined the community to commemorate World Mental Health Day.
Observed annually on October 10, the day promotes mental well-being and combats stigma, while also aligning with the International Day of the Girl on October 11, a global call to amplify girls’ voices and celebrate their leadership.
This year’s theme, “Access to Services: Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies,” underscored the urgent need to support individuals impacted by crises.
In a district where poverty, trauma, and gender inequalities often weigh heavily on families, the event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and child protection.
Through dialogue, testimonies, and expert insights, participants were reminded that nurturing mental well-being begins at home.
