The record for the maximum air temperature in Latvia on March 14th was broken across the country on Saturday, according to data from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center (LVĢMC).
The heat record was broken at all 25 observation stations nationwide. The highest air temperature by 3 p.m. was 17.1 degrees in Liepāja.
In Ainaži, Liepāja, Pāvilosta, Rucava, Skulte and Ventspils, the heat record for not only March 14th, but also for the whole second week of the month was broken. The previous record for the maximum air temperature on March 14 in Latvia was 13.6 degrees in 1972 in Rīga.
This month, heat records have been broken on ten days already.
On Sunday, the sky will be slightly cloudy, but cloud will increase from the west during the day. Rain is expected in places in Kurzeme in the second half of the day. A slow to moderate southerly wind will blow. During the day, the air will warm up to from +8 to +13 degrees Celsius.
