For Stability! parliamentary faction shrinks / Article

Three MPs – Iļja Ivanovs, Igors Judins, and Amils Saļimovs– have left the Saeima faction For Stability!, according to information available to Latvian Television. This leaves only five MPs in the faction.

Consequently, if another MP leaves the faction, it will cease to exist in the Saeima. A faction can be formed by at least five deputies elected to the Saeima from the same list of candidates

In the 14th Saeima elections, For Stability! entered parliament with 11 MPs as the fifth largest of the seven factions. But now it has become the smallest faction in parliament with five MPs.

In September last year, immediately after receiving her mandate as a deputy, Jeļena Kļaviņa left the faction. She was entitled to the mandate because it was vacated by Viktors Pučka, who had been sent for a state language test. Kļaviņa justified her departure by citing differences of opinion with the faction.

On the same day, Jekaterina Drelinga also left the faction. At the time, she said that this was “the only honest path” and chose to continue her work as an independent deputy.

In 2023, Glorija Grevcova, who was convicted of providing false information, also left the faction. She was replaced by Saļimovs, who has now just left the faction.

However, a year later, MP Viktorija Pleškāne was expelled from the faction. Aleksejs Rosļikovs, the leader of the faction at the time, did not disclose the reason for the expulsion.
