The international competition for Kyrgyz and Kazakh akyns — improvisers (improvisational poets) has concluded at Kyrchyn jailoo (pasture). The creative contest took place from September 2 to 4 as part of the 6th World Nomad Games.
Meyirbek Sultankhan (Kazakhstan) and Elmirbek Imanaliev (Kyrgyzstan) shared the top prize, each receiving 300,000 soms.
Mukhtar Niyazov and Nursultan Maldybaev—both from Kazakhstan—took first place; they were each awarded 250,000 soms. Second place and a prize of 200,000 soms each went to Khazyret Berdikhan (Kazakhstan) and Kutman Sadybakasov (Kyrgyzstan). Nurlan Esenkulov and Akmatbek Sultan uulu (both from Kyrgyzstan) took third place, receiving 150,000 soms each.
The remaining participants also received cash prizes. The total prize fund amounted to 3 million soms.
The competition was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Information and Youth Policy, the Kyrgyz National Manas Theater, and Aitysh Public Foundation.
