In 2025, the minimum pension in Kyrgyzstan was 7,100 soms, yet 37 percent of pensioners received less than this amount.

As Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Daniyar Amangeldiev reported at a meeting of the Committee on Industrial Policy, Transport, Fuel and Energy Complex, and Architecture, these figures have now changed.

«As of June 2026, 5 percent receive less than the minimum pension; in other words, 32 percent have moved up to receiving the minimum pension,» the official said.

He announced that starting from October 2026, the minimum pension will be 8,800 soms, noting that the authorities are thereby fulfilling the constitutional requirement that pensions must not fall below the subsistence minimum.
