Temperatures across the United Kingdom drop, but . . .

Temperatures across the UK have dropped from last week’s record-breaking heat, but meteorologists say another heatwave could develop as July begins.

Forecasters suggest that temperatures in parts of England and Wales could rise again into the low to mid-30°C range next week. However, experts caution that there is still uncertainty over how intense the heat may become, with current predictions not reaching the extreme levels seen in the recent heatwave.

The Met Office says the likelihood of another heatwave is increasing, driven by an area of high pressure moving in from the south-west. This system could bring warmer, more settled weather across much of England and Wales later in the week.

The UK recently recorded a provisional June temperature record of 37.7°C in Norfolk, marking the hottest June day in history. Several other European countries, including Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic, also saw national temperature records broken during the same period.

While forecasters expect warmer-than-average conditions through July and August, they note that predictions are based on evolving weather models and may change. Although another heatwave remains possible, experts say it is unlikely to match the extreme intensity of last week’s conditions.
