Strategic academic leap seen as PAAET joins prestigious THE Arab rankings for first time

The Public Authority for Applied Education and Training has announced its first-ever entry into the Times Higher Education Arab University Rankings 2026, marking a significant milestone in its academic and institutional development and reflecting its alignment with Kuwait’s national development direction and Vision 2035 objectives.

Director General Dr. Hassan Al-Fajjam said in a statement that this achievement underscores the growing maturity of the Authority’s academic and training system and strengthens its presence both regionally and internationally.

He described the inclusion as a pivotal step in the Authority’s journey, attributing the accomplishment to integrated institutional efforts and a unified team approach. He added that participation in international and regional rankings demonstrates the Authority’s commitment to adopting global best practices and improving the quality of its educational and training outputs.

Dr. Al-Fajjam called for continued structured efforts to further enhance the Authority’s position in global rankings, emphasizing the importance of sustained progress that aligns with its strategic ambitions.

He also praised the work of the classification and evaluation teams, along with various departments that contributed to achieving this milestone, noting that the success serves as a motivation to continue advancing innovation and equipping students and trainees with the skills required by the labor market.

According to the Director General, the Authority is steadily progressing toward qualitative improvements in both academic and institutional performance, expanding its partnerships locally and internationally, and enhancing the overall quality of education and training.

He congratulated all staff members, including leadership, faculty, trainers, and administrators, on what he described as a collective achievement built on teamwork and dedication, and a foundation for a new phase of excellence and leadership in education and national development.

The Times Higher Education (THE), based in the United Kingdom, is a globally recognized institution specializing in higher education analysis and rankings. Its annual university rankings are based on a comprehensive set of 18 performance indicators covering teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.

The Authority had previously been included in the THE Impact Rankings 2025, which evaluate universities based on their contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. That inclusion was also seen as a key milestone, reflecting the institution’s growing role in research, innovation, community engagement, and educational development.
