Kuwait approves emergency response fund to speed up crisis support

  • Aim is to strengthen coordination between government agencies and ensure that financial resources are used efficiently to repair damage and support key national projects
  • Designed to improve Kuwait’s ability to respond quickly to unexpected events and to strengthen financial preparedness

The government has approved the creation of a new “Kuwait Emergency Response Fund” to improve the country’s readiness for emergencies and ensure faster action during crises, according to informed sources.

The fund will help secure quick financing for important infrastructure projects and essential public services, especially when damage or disruptions affect national facilities.

The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development will manage the new fund as a special account. It will collect contributions from government bodies, institutions, and private sector companies that choose to support emergency response efforts.

Sources said the aim is to strengthen coordination between government agencies and ensure that financial resources are used efficiently to repair damage and support key national projects.

Ministries will be required to submit lists of priority projects that have already been approved by the Council of Ministers. These projects will then be funded through the emergency response mechanism based on urgency and national importance.

The Kuwait Fund will also work with government entities to decide how and when funds are spent, making sure procedures follow legal and financial regulations.

Officials said the new system is designed to improve Kuwait’s ability to respond quickly to unexpected events and to strengthen financial preparedness. It is also intended to ensure that essential services continue without interruption, even during crises.
