Electricity Ministry: Subiya fire caused by drone debris

Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Dr. Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem inspected Subiya Power and Water Distillation Plant following a limited fire that broke out early Monday in a fuel tank.

The ministry said in a press statement that the minister visited the site and was briefed by technical officials, noting debris from a drone was found at the fire location while security authorities launched an investigation.

Emergency, safety and security teams dealt with the incident according to approved procedures and managed to contain the fire in record time without any human injuries. Al-Mukhaizeem also reviewed ongoing technical inspections conducted by specialized teams to ensure the safety of units and equipment linked to the tank and maintain the plant’s operational readiness.

He praised the staff’s swift response, which helped contain the situation and preserve the stability of Kuwait’s electricity and water systems. The ministry affirmed that electricity and water networks are operating normally and steadily while technical teams continue inspections in line with the highest safety standards. – KUNA
