US President Donald Trump announced Thursday that China is expected to purchase around 200 large aircraft from Boeing following his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing.
Speaking to Fox News after the talks, Trump said: “Among the things agreed today was the purchase of 200 Boeing aircraft, 200 large aircraft.”
He added, “I believe this is a commitment,” without providing further details about the agreement, local Arabic daily reports.
Despite the announcement, Boeing shares declined in stock market trading, as some investors had anticipated an even larger aircraft order from China.
