The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a notice warning motorists of temporary traffic disruptions along the Thika Superhighway (A2).
KeNHA in a notice signed by the Acting Director General of Eng. Luka Kimeli announced the closure of a section of the busy highway at Juja Highpoint (Centurion) to allow for road maintenance works. According to the authority, the affected section will be partially closed to facilitate milling and recarpeting of the carriageway.
The closure will take place on two weekends — from Saturday, November 8, 2025, to Sunday, November 9, 2025, between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., and again from Saturday, November 15, 2025, to Sunday, November 16, 2025, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
During this period, both Nairobi-bound and Thika-bound traffic will be diverted to the adjacent service lanes and then rejoin the main highway.
KeNHA has urged motorists to exercise caution and adhere to the proposed traffic management plan, as well as to follow instructions from police and traffic marshals stationed at the site.
“Motorists are advised to exercise caution around the work areas, follow the proposed traffic management plan, and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” the notice reads in part.

The disruption, which also affects traffic on both the Nairobi-bound and Thika-bound service lanes, began on Monday, October 20, 2025, and is expected to run until Saturday, December 20, 2025.
In the notice signed by Acting Director General Luka Kimeli, KeNHA explained that the Kihunguro footbridge is being built to address long-standing concerns about pedestrian safety and traffic flow in the busy section of the superhighway. During the two-month closure, traffic on both service lanes will be diverted around the construction area.
“This is to allow for construction works of the Kihunguro footbridge column bases and stub columns at the section. We are urging road users to be patient and cooperate with traffic marshals on site,” the notice read.

Meanwhile, the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced a temporary traffic disruption along Ngong Road, near the Junction Mall area, from Tuesday, November 18, 2025, to Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
In a statement on November 6, KURA stated that the disruption will facilitate the installation of a steel structure for the ongoing flyover construction. The works will take place daily between 8:00 PM and 5:00 AM, except on Sundays.
During this period, traffic will be diverted between the Nairobi City County Training School and the Kenya Science Campus to allow for two-way movement within the affected section.
Motorists are urged to drive carefully, follow all traffic signs and directions from police officers and traffic marshals on-site, and expect some delays as the works progress.
