Settlers Storm Archaeological Site in Palestinian Sebastia…

Settlers on Monday stormed the archaeological site in the town of Sebastia, northwest of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, under heavy protection from Israeli occupation forces.اضافة اعلان

The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that several settler vehicles entered the archaeological site in the town, coinciding with a stand organized by Muslim, Christian, and Samaritan religious figures. The gathering was in support of the urgent request submitted by the State of Palestine to list the Sebastia site on the UNESCO World Heritage List during its 48th session, currently taking place in Busan, South Korea, through July 29.

The committee is scheduled to consider four draft resolutions concerning Palestinian sites already listed on the World Heritage List: Old City of Jerusalem and its Walls, Hebron Old Town/Ibrahimi Mosque, Battir, and the Saint Hilarion Complex/Tell Umm Amer in the Gaza Strip.

The town of Sebastia is subjected to repeated incursions by settlers and occupation forces, particularly in the archaeological zone, as part of attempts to impose control over the historical site and erase its Palestinian identity.
