Launch of Acute Cardiac Thrombosis Treatme…

The Ministry of Health will begin on Sunday implementing procedures for the treatment of acute cardiac thrombosis through catheterization in its hospitals, via seven main covered centers to activate this national protocol, according to Minister of Health Ibrahim Al-Baddour.

Al-Baddour told Al Mamlaka that the ministry is working to increase the number of these centers under a future plan and to link them with peripheral centers across various governorates.

The centers include Al-Bashir Hospital, Prince Hamzah Hospital, the new Al-Hussein Salt Hospital, Zarqa Hospital, Karak Hospital, Tafilah Hospital, Princess Basma Hospital in Irbid, in addition to King Abdullah University Hospital.

The minister explained that these hospitals, which are equipped to perform cardiac interventional procedures, have been reinforced with on-call technical teams available around the clock, enabling emergency cardiac catheterization procedures 24/7 throughout the week.

He added that the remaining Ministry of Health hospitals have been linked to these equipped hospitals according to a defined operational mechanism, under which cases of cardiac thrombosis are directly referred for catheterization.

Al-Baddour emphasized adherence to approved and internationally recognized medical treatment protocols, based on clear standards and ensuring the continuity of optimal medical care. Cases of cardiac thrombosis in the covered hospitals are handled by cardiology specialists, whether from the ministry’s staff or others, in accordance with these approved protocols.

This protocol comes as part of a plan developed by the Ministry of Health to enhance the quality of medical services, aiming to establish clear frameworks and unified treatment protocols for stroke and cardiac thrombosis, in addition to standardizing treatment protocols for all cancer patients across all medical sectors.

The importance of the cardiac thrombosis protocol lies in keeping pace with the latest globally approved treatment methods, increasing life-saving opportunities, and reducing patient numbers and complications, thereby positively reflecting on citizens’ health and improving quality of life.
