Decrease in local meat prices…

The prices of local and imported sheep meat have experienced a noticeable decline recently, accompanied by a slight increase in veal prices, according to Zaal Al-Kawalit, President of the Livestock Breeders Association.اضافة اعلان

In a press statement on Tuesday, Al-Kawalit explained that imported sheep prices were unaffected by regional developments and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, as Jordan imports Syrian, Egyptian, and Romanian sheep, which arrive via the Syrian Port of Tartus.

Al-Kawalit pointed out that prices have decreased gradually since Eid al-Adha. The price of local young goat (Gadi) and local lamb ranged between 9.5 and 10 Jordanian Dinars (JD) per kilogram (slaughtered weight), while the price of local “Ramsi” (mature sheep) remained around JD 11 to 12 per kilogram.

He added that frozen meat might be affected by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, as it is imported from East Asian countries and India.

Regarding veal, Al-Kawalit noted that its prices have seen a global rise recently due to the increasing cost of animal feed and higher shipping expenses.

He indicated that the price per kilogram of Romanian lamb is around JD 9, while veal prices range between JD 9 and 10 per kilogram (slaughtered weight).
