Ukrainian authorities stated that the attacks, carried out using missiles and drones, targeted several regions across the country, causing power outages for about 140,000 people in parts of the capital, Kyiv, in addition to igniting fires in houses, vehicles, and residential buildings, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).

The head of the Kyiv Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, announced that the death toll from the attack in the capital had risen to 4 dead and 23 injured, including a child, noting that rescue teams are still continuing search operations and managing the aftermath of the bombardment.

The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra monastery, one of the most prominent religious and historical landmarks in Ukraine, sustained severe damage from what authorities described as a direct hit. Founded in 1051, the monastery is considered one of the most important spiritual and cultural sites in the country.

For her part, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko stated that the attack targeted the Ukrainian people and their cultural heritage, noting that photographs from the site showed the monastery buildings engulfed in flames.

In the northeastern city of Kharkiv, Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko announced the deaths of 5 rescue workers and the injury of at least 5 others after they came under repeated Russian strikes while attempting to extinguish fires caused by the shelling.

Authorities also reported that 3 people, including a child, were injured in the city of Sumy as a result of the attacks.

On the other hand, Russian authorities announced the deaths of 3 people and the injury of 3 others, including a one-year-old child, in a drone attack that targeted the Tula region, located south of Moscow.

The governor of the region, Dmitry Miliaev, stated that the attack targeted an area containing a number of major industrial facilities, which have repeatedly come under Ukrainian attacks since the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2022.
