Update: Five more Haitians taken into custody in Portland

The Portland Police have now taken 22 Haitian migrants into custody in the past 24 hours.

This is after five additional Haitians were held on Monday.

They join 17 others who were placed in police custody after landing in Norwich, Portland, by boat on Sunday night.

That group includes 10 adult males, four adult females and three children.

According to the police, a search has been underway to locate others who may have been in the group.

A video posted to TikTok purports to show the boat in which the Haitians arrived.

The video shows a weathered vessel abandoned on the rocky shoreline.

The stripping green paint on the upper section reveals a layer of white paint underneath it.

The bottom half of the vessel is brown.

A female voice is heard saying the vessel came ashore in her backyard.
