Three illegal guns, including two high-powered rifles, were seized during two separate police operations in St James on Thursday.

Reports are that about 4:30AM, lawmen searched a premises in Guilsborough as part of an operation targeting wanted men, persons of interest and prohibited firearms.

Nothing illegal was found inside the house.

But a search of nearby shrubs uncovered an M-16 multi-calibre rifle with an empty magazine, wrapped in a jacket.

Later at about 1:15PM, police conducted an operation in the Back Bush area of Flankers.

A heavily vegetated lot was searched, and another M16 rifle and a magazine containing five rounds of ammunition were found between two rocks.

A handgun was also found in that operation.

No one was arrested.
