Mullings Wins Men Discus at Brussels Diamond League

National champion Ralford Mullings produced the only Jamaican win at Friday’s Wanda Diamond League meeting in Brussels, Belgium.

Mullings won the men’s Discus with a throw of 69.66m as another Jamaican the Olympic champion Roje Stona finished seventh with 65.67m

In the much anticipated women’s 100m, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce clocked 11.17 seconds to place fourth, as the inform American star Melissa Jefferson-Wooden blitz the field to win in 10.76 seconds.

Reigning World champion Sha’Carri Richardson was second in 11.08 seconds.

Fraser-Pryce says she logged today’s performance as another fond memory competing on the circuit.

Shanieka Ricketts had to settle for fourth in the women’s Triple Jump with 14.29m, while her fellow Jamaican Ackelia Smith was seventh with 13.97m.

Olympic finalist Romaine Beckford scaled 2.22m for third in the men’s High Jump, while Andrennette Knight finished fourth in the women’s 400m hurdles in 54.40 seconds.

The American Anna Cockrell won in 53.66 seconds.

The Diamond League will come to an end on August 27 and 28 with the final in Zurich.
