Theodore Whitmore, head coach of Mount Pleasant Football Academy, stated that every game in the ongoing CONCACAF Caribbean Club Championships will be treated as a final.

Whitmore was speaking in the aftermath of Mount Pleasant’s 1-nil win over former champions SV Robinhoos of Suriname at the national stadium on Tuesday evening.

Captain Sue Lae McCalla bagged the winner on 35 minutes for the St. Ann based club who played with ten players for 80 minutes after new signing Warner Brown was sent off for dangerous play ten minutes into the game.

Whitmore was particularly impressed with his defenders.

Whitmore also stressed that the team will shift their focus to Montego Bay United who they’ll face on Match-day One of the Jamaica Premier League set to kickoff on Sunday. 

Defending champions, Cavalier started their campaign with a 2-nil defeat away to Cibao F.C from the Dominican Republic. 

Omar de la Cruz scored in the 21st minute to give the home team the lead before Carlos Ventura sealed the points on 73 minutes.

Cibao has now taken the early lead in Group B while Cavalier sits at the bottom of the table.
