Nationwide News understands that Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, general secretary, Dr. Horace Chang, has summoned the party’s Central Executive to a meeting set for Saturday, August 9 at the party’s Belmont Road headquarters in St. Andrew.
The Central Executive is the highest decision making body of the JLP outside of its annual conference.
The meeting is expected to deal with several house-keeping matters and deliver a final charge to JLP standard-bearers.
The meeting of the Central Executive is set to be followed on Sunday by a mass rally in Half Way Tree, St. Andrew.
Speculation is rife that prime minister and JLP leader, Dr. Andrew Holness, will call the general election at that mass rally.
While addressing a JLP meeting in Juliet Holness’s East Rural St. Andrew constituency this week, Dr. Holness signaled that the general election is imminent.
