Chang: No safe haven for those who defy law and confront security forces

National Security Minister, Dr. Horace Chang, is warning that there will be no safe haven for those who seek to evade the law and confront the security forces.

Dr. Chang was speaking following a deadly shooting incident during a special police operation in Sligoville, St. Catherine on Friday.

Dr. Chang says members of the JCF’s Specialised Operations Branch came under fire while seeking to execute a search warrant at a remote property in the community.

The officers returned fire and were subsequently able to apprehend three gunmen who were inside the house while ensuring the safety of civilians, including two children.

As members of the JCF continue efforts to locate the other perpetrators who fled into nearby bushes, Dr. Chang sought to reassure Jamaicans of the Force’s ability to pursue and apprehend those responsible.
